Website purpose
This website provides general information about Background Answers and our employment background-screening services. Content is informational and does not constitute legal advice, a consumer report, an employment decision, or a guarantee that a particular search, record, report, or result will be available.
Screening services, customer accounts, orders, reports, candidate workflows, and related obligations are governed by separate agreements, certifications, disclosures, authorizations, policies, and applicable law.
Eligibility and business use
The website is intended for lawful use by adults and legitimate organizations. By submitting a new-customer application, you represent that the information is accurate and that you are authorized to provide it for the organization identified.
Submitting an application does not create a customer relationship, activate an account, authorize consumer-report access, or guarantee approval. We may verify information, request documentation, require agreements and certifications, conduct credentialing, or decline an application.
Customer responsibilities
Organizations using background-screening services are responsible for understanding and complying with applicable law. Responsibilities may include establishing a permissible purpose, providing disclosures, obtaining written authorization, following pre-adverse and adverse-action procedures, protecting report information, applying lawful and nondiscriminatory policies, and complying with federal, state, and local requirements.
Background Answers does not make hiring or eligibility decisions for customers. Customers remain responsible for their policies, decisions, notices, and use of information. Website information and support do not replace advice from qualified counsel.
Acceptable use
You may not use the website to:
- Violate law, regulation, court order, contract, or third-party rights;
- Submit false, misleading, fraudulent, or unauthorized information;
- Seek consumer reports or screening access without a lawful permissible purpose;
- Submit candidate data, card information, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, identification documents, report details, or other sensitive information through ordinary website forms;
- Interfere with the website, bypass security, introduce malicious code, scrape content abusively, or access systems or data without authorization;
- Impersonate another person or organization; or
- Use content or services for unlawful discrimination, harassment, surveillance, or another prohibited purpose.
Account and portal access
Approved customers may receive access to a separate customer portal or screening platform. You are responsible for protecting credentials, using multifactor authentication when required, limiting access to authorized personnel, removing unneeded access, and notifying us of suspected unauthorized access.
Portal use may be governed by additional terms and agreements. If these Terms conflict with a written customer agreement concerning screening services, that agreement controls for those services.
Intellectual property
The website and its text, design, graphics, logos, software, and other content are owned by or licensed to Background Answers, Aura Check, or their licensors and are protected by law. You may view and print reasonable portions for internal evaluation. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, license, reverse engineer, or create derivative works except as permitted by law or written authorization.

Limitations for paid screening services are governed by the applicable customer agreement. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limitations.

Governing law
These Terms are governed by Florida law, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where federal law applies or applicable law requires otherwise. Dispute requirements in a written customer agreement control disputes arising from paid screening services.
